Quadrangle Building, National University of Ireland, Galway Conservation and restoration repairs by Mid West Lime

Quadrangle Building, National University of Ireland, Galway.

We were involved in the roof repair and masonry repointing to the higher level  ashlar masonry to the Aula Maxima part of the Quadrangle building in NUI Galway. This involved removing coping stones to insert a copper damp course to both gables, inserting  stainless steel ties along the coping stones to prevent the stones sliding down the gables. Localised patch repair pointing along the walls and towers were also carried out. The works also involve stone indenting in certain areas and the surface repairing and stone grafting of detailed carved masonry around the main entrance doors.
