Mid West Lime were the successful tenderer for this project. Galway County Council were the client and their brief was to preserve this structure. The project was split into two phases. Phase 1 was roof repair to the main church and Phase 2 was repairs to the Tower.
The main roof was in a very bad state of repair, the roof had to be propped before it was stripped. The slates were reused and more salvaged slates were acquired to complete the roof. Three new steel trusses were sistered to the existing trusses and the existing roof structure was assessed and repaired.
The Pinnacles to the tower were dismantled and re erected with some elements replaced and many repairs throughout the process. A new roof was fitted to the tower and a lime harling was applied to the upper levels of the tower.
Mid West Lime were nominated as Main Contractor and PSCS for this project.
