REFURBISHMENT AND STRUCTURAL REPAIRS TO CRATLOEKEEL CASTLE
Mid West Lime Ltd was the preferred contractor to carry out structural repairs, new crenelations, new roof, reinstatement of the front door surround, fabricate and install new spiral stair sections to Cratloekeel Castle. The castle was in a reasonable state of repair. The tower had been slighted during the Cromwellian War which left the tower without 23 of the original stone winders which made up the spiral stairs. These stone steps were fabricated by Mid West Lime and fitted to reinstate the stairs to the condition it once was back in the 1500s. We installed a limecrete screed on the roof, laid a waterproof membrane and completed a raised stone terrace on the roof. A lime render was applied to the external of the tower house
